Dr. Jason Scofield (CV)

Dr. Scofield is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. He arrived at the University of Alabama in 2003 after receiving a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Scofield and his lab (AlaBama Cognitive Development - the ABCD Lab) study children's language development, occasionally wading into issues related to cognitive and social development more broadly. His main line of research focuses on when and how children (mostly toddlers and preschoolers) learn words. Other lines of inquiry explore social learning and moral cognition in young children. Dr. Scofield also teaches graduate and undergraduate courses including courses that focus on lifespan and child development.
